A new shuttle service will offer rides between Martensville, Warman, and Saskatoon as of May 1. The service from AV Transit is set to run 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. "AV Transit is a privately-owned company and the bus service will be entirely self-supporting," General Manager Kelly Rapko said in a media release. "There is no subsidy from taxpayers in any of the cities we’ll be providing service to.” According to Rapko the decision to offer a shuttle has nothing to do with the closure of Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) set out in the March provincial budget. A grand opening and ribbon cutting are planned at the Martensville Co-op and Warman Co-op on the first day of operations, along with two "ride-free" days May 1 and 2 for people to try the service. AV Transit isn't new to the industry, since 1994 the company has operated as a shuttle service for people with special needs.
